All,

For Forum members interested in Upper Palaeolithic mobiliary art and, more particularly, in Gravettian Venus figurines, here is a 2000 paper that illustrates, describes, and discusses extensively the material discovered more than a century ago at the Balzi Rossi (Grimaldi Caves), located on the Mediterranean shore, just at the French-Italian border. Because of the size of the original PDF, it is presented in two parts (files).

For part “1”, click HERE, and HERE for part “2”.

Additional background information can also be read and viewed HERE

Note that by navigating a bit in the latter site you can also find a French version.

All,

For Forum members interested in Upper Palaeolithic mobiliary art and, more particularly, in Gravettian Venus figurines, here is a 2002 paper that illustrates, describes, and discusses extensively the material discovered more than a century ago at the Balzi Rossi (Grimaldi Caves), located on the Mediterranean shore, just at the French-Italian border. Because of the size of the original PDF, it is presented in two parts (files).

For part “1”, click HERE, and HERE for part “2”.

CORRECTION AND APOLOGIES

Last evening, Dar was kind enough to bring to my attention the fact that Part 2 of this lengthy PDFed article, i.e., Mussi&al.ECHOES.Part2.pdf, was missing page 116. This mysterious problem has now been fixed, and I apologize to all for this silly error, and especially to the few that may already have downloaded the initial, incomplete version. Note also that a minor correction has been made with regards to the date of publication. It is 2000 and not 2002.
