All,
Being a forwarded message from the Canadian Museum of Civilization:
Richard Morlan died at the age of 65 on January 1, after a long illness. At his retirement in December, Dick was the longest-serving employee of CMC, with 38 years' seniority. An archaeologist, he did important research over a period of more than 40 years, specializing in Early Man studies, mainly in the Yukon, in the identification and interpretation of animal bones from archaeological sites, and in radiocarbon dating. Among his important contributions is the searchable Web database CARD (the Canadian Archaeological Radiocarbon Database), with more than 20,000 records. He also had a major role in the development of the First Peoples Hall.
He was a friend.
Jacques
