Marie Soressi has done extensive work on the Mousterian of Acheulian Tradition (MTA). She argues that "The MTA has to be considered a cultural unit. It shares technical and techno-functional characteristics with the Chatelperronian. The high predetermination and planning of some of the MTA knapping processes diminish the sharp contrast usually seen between Middle Paleolithic and Upper Paleolithic behaviors".
