At one point Paul Bahn was arguing I believe for evidence of crib biting in Paleolithic horses and of bridles.

Here: http://www.auelfans.ca/discus/messages/4/3995.html
someone is claiming that he's recanted these claims due to peer pressure?

Does anyone know:
1. Did he recant
2. Anything more about his or any other such claims?
Thanks

Dear Doug,

Quite a few years ago,  I read pretty much everything that had ever been written by Bahn and by earlier French prehistorians  regarding putative LUP horse domestication. A number of authors disagreed with Bahn's interpretations and he responded accordingly. But he certainly did not "recant" (a pretty strong word, by the way) because of "peer pressure" (also a pretty hyped up way of describing normal scientific disagreements). He just chose to put an end to the argument and went on to do other things. By the way, if I had been a participant in this exchange, I would have had to disagree with a number of Bahn' claims.

Regards,

Jacques.

Thanks. I didn't believe the guy that claimed he had an email from him saying he'd recanted.  Now that I think of it, I should hav emailed Bahn himself, I've done it before and he's replied but that was a while ago and I'd forgotten.
