For your information.

If you are trying to come up with an excuse to spend time in Paris, in November 2008, have a look at the preliminary programme of The oldest human expansions in Eurasia -- Favouring and limiting factors.

The programme in question is available in both French and English and can be read HERE.

Have a good trip!

Hi Jacques -

It's strange, but the entire phrase "a partir de l'Afrique" seems to have been ommitted from the translated colloquium title. So "Oldest Human Expansions into Eurasia from Africa"?

Does the biface marks a taxa? I suppose if Colin Renfrew were still alive he'd vigorously argue the case for biface technology as cultural diffusion instead.

And of course there's always the questions of routes, a land bridge through Gibraltar?

If the Rhine River was a barrier, then would it have been a barrier at its headwaters?

Given the rare samples that come from excavated sites, it will be interesting to see what the specialists can establish.

It certainly looks like its going to be a good session, but it is sad that none of the specialists will be considering the possible effects of the Bosumtwi (in today's Ghana) impact event of 1.3 million years ago, which went off with say around 10,400 Hiroshimas of force.
