Thanks Johannes,

It is quite fascinating to follow the evolution of prehistoric studies. Lartet is probably at the origin of a turning point in making prehistory a science.

For those of you who are interested, I highly recommend Colin Renfew's book: "Prehistory, The Making of the Human Mind", first published in 2007. the latest publication came as a paperback, Orion House London, 2008. Part I of the book is dedicated to History of Prehistory.
