The Institute for Anthropology from the University of Vienna is releasing sculls STS 5 and STS 71 (both
Australopithecus africanus) on CD-ROM.
http://www.anthropology.at/basis.html?virtanth/dr.foho/dr.foho.html "The CD-ROM Edition of Fossil Hominids is an initiative with the objective to establish a data base containing 3D-data of precious hominid fossils.
The main goal is to facilitate morphological investigations of such specimens by providing digital data for the international scientific community. The countries of origin consider themselves as keepers of world heritage objects, which they indeed are. Therefore, funds generated from the sale of CD-ROMs will be mainly used (less manufacturing costs) to support institutions concerned with heritage projects in the country of origin of a particular fossil."
Available 11 November 2002.
