New Functionality

Some of you may already have received a number of emails referring to ongoing tests of a new functionality.

The purpose of the latter is to automatically inform all registered members that a  new discussion topic has been added to anyone of the Boards or Threads identified, so far, in the Forum. If the topic(s) in question is (are) of interest to you, all you will have to do is to monitor it (them) by checking the Forum, and, hopefully, respond and get involved in the discussion(s).

You will be informed of further developments in this area of communications.

Comments would be appreciated (online or offline).

I like this feature. In the run-up to the holidays I'd fallen out of the habit of checking this and other groups I subscribe to, so this will be a helpful reminder to me to check in.

I have one suggestion about the format of these notices, although this board may not have this function. I subscribe to Nature updates, and every week I get an email notice with an outline of the articles included in that week's issue. Would it be possible to organize your notification feature this way, so that members are notified weekly with a list of the new topics that have appeared that week? This would cut down on the number of emails (which will probably not be a problem at present anyway), though I do realize that some discussions may be out of date by the time notification is received.

Thanks for the positive response. But you must realize that, for the time being, PALANTH-Forum cannot afford the staff required to develop and implement this particular kind of communication format. Next year, maybe! At any rate we will look into it.
