Hi Dar,
excellent news on the lagar velho skeleton.
we must get a copy in the club as soon as is at all poss.
As you may remember news of this find was what brought me into this faculty in the first place all those many years ago.
don't know whether any one knows as yet, but I hope, if this is their final statement , that they have managed to answer the question of the middle ear.

As you probably already know, I've spread the word about this to my Palanthsci list and several other lists discussing subjects relevant to Lagar Velho.  I hope anyone interested in this will give it a good look(I've been having "monitor trouble" so I haven't really had a chance to look at it myself).

Thanks for bringing this up, and let's hope that this particular type of release marks the beginning of a trend on the part of institutional publishers (like "Trabalhos de Arqueologia") which are obviously not into this for the $$.

At any rate, thanks to a fast connection, I did manage to download, pretty quickly, most of the PDFs that make up the monograph. However, for reasons that are known only to the internet Gods, I was not able to get access-- despite my insistence and best efforts -- to the part entitled "Concluding Remarks". All I kept geting is an empty PDF. So, if you (or someone else) happen to feel particularly helpful, I would appreciate very much receiving a readable copy of it.
