Dear all,

Please find below the sad note I received yesterday from Ken's wife:

Quote
This note is to inform you about the death of my husband, Ken Antanaitis-Jacobs.

Ken passed away in his sleep last Wednesday morning, Jan. 7th.  We are planning a couple memorial services for him, one in Austin, Texas, and the other in Montreal in 1-3 months.  The details (dates, places) are still being worked out; another note will follow.  Please contact me soon if you are interested in attending either memorial service.  Those who cannot attend, but wish to tangibly express their condolences, please make a donation in Ken’s name to a children’s fund or other foundation you feel particularly appropriate.

Thanks.

Indre Antanaitis-Jacobs

A sad loss for his family and friends, and for our community.

I was the second to last graduate student of Ken's and I learned of his death only yesterday.  I wish to extend my condolenses to his family and children.  He made an unforgettable impression on my life and I will cherish his memory.

Welcome new member Christine,

As the original founder/owner of the now-defunct Yahoo group, palanth-L, the immediate predecessor of Palanth, Ken figured very prominently in the formation of this group.  His contributions on the state of paleoanthropological affairs are sadly missed by all of us.  A great loss.

Best,
Dar
