I forgot to mention that -- living a few minutes away from Montréal -- I am looking forward to be present at the meetings and, if all goes well, to come up with a biased (!) report for the PALANTH issue that will follow the Inaugural one.

Well, lucky you. If not for my temporary disability, I probably could consider a journey north for the occasion. Unfortunately, such adventures must wait for a time, but I'll look forward with great anticipation, to reading your report in Palanth.
What caught my notice was the impending news from Obi Rakhmat Grotto, Uzbekistan, where the sequence of assemblages in 21 layers show the transformation from MP/UP [the epi-Levallois stuff that's similar techno-typologically to the Bohunician and the IUP of Northeast Asia (sensu Brantingham et al.)], dated from ~50 ka to somewhat >40 kyr bp, with one rumor I've read from a conference this year saying IIRC 48,000 for the IUP. They've also found human remains in these levels, which also merits a presentation in Montreal, I notice [Move over Teshik-Tash].
But that's just my special interest; the program looks varied enough that there should be something for everyone.
Have a grand time,
Dar
