All,

Just catching up (#1). Unless I am totally confused, this particular topic that has recently made the media round and has been somewhat discussed on various lists, has not been brought up here. If only for the record, it should have. Here are three releases on this exciting Austrian discovery. The second and third one are in German, but if you can’t – for whatever reason – read it, I am sure that a decent dictionary, Babelfish or a good friend could be of help. What I find most tanlalizing are the promises of much more to come. Also clear is that the researchers involved are obviously out of the Science-Nature loop. Otherwise, I am sure it would already have been extensively marketed. Oops, scientifically disseminated.

No, you aren't confused, and yes this should have been reported here.  I'll just note that the announcement of this discovery (Sept 26, 2005)  coincides with that period last year when the Palanth forum was experiencing difficulties posting messages for a few weeks, probably why we missed it.  Thanks for this, as the third URL contains a number of photographs I hadn't seen before, as well as, perhaps, some additional information once I stumble through a translation of the German.
