All,

This pertains to an important symposium that was recently held (November 9 – 11, 2005) in “Wien”, Austria:

Aktuelle Aspekte des mittel- und osteuropäischen Jungpaläolithikums - Methoden, Chronologie, Technologie und Subsistenz.

New Aspects concerning the Middle and Eastern European Upper Paleolithic - Methods, chronology, technology and subsistence.

Click HERE for the main site, and HERE for the (21) Abstracts. In German or in English, some of them are quite informative about the current views of European researchers on the nature of the Aurignacian/Gravettian manifestations in central and eastern Europe. Hopefully, we will not have to wait too long for actual publications.

Jacques and all:

At least two of the papers abstracted sound potentially very interesting, to me, at least.
