All:

Apparently, a virtual showcase of Neandertal fossils and Neandertal-related materials is becoming available online.  This should be of considerable interest to some of us.

You can find the EurekAlert report on this at the following URL:

This is excellent news, I hope this project is a success and inspires similar databses.

Its claimed the data should be available formats such as DICOM and STL so it will be possible to do all sorts of exciting things like printing you own 3D copies of the fossils, if you have a 3D printer that is.

It looks like you will have to pay for access to the good stuff at 100 euros for an individual and 30 euros for a student. See HERE

This is the website of the Project: http://www.the-neanderthal-tools.org/

shenzhou and all:

Well, there seems to be enough stuff, if you click on all the links, to keep people busy for a while, at least.  I'm not sure how much 100 euros would be in US money, but it sounds kinda steep for the average individual.  Still, there is enough material there(plus links), to be at least somewhat useful.  I especially liked the "morphs" one part of the site had of a bunch of rather "average" "modern" humans into presumably "average" Neandertals.  Too bad they didn't do something similar with the women, but that's another story.
